
Artist's Statement
As a person and as an artist, I strive for diversity.
From the creations of man, to the lines of the human form, to the peaceful palettes of the natural world – I see an endless array of angles from which I might approach, engage and capture each with my pencil.
Biography
Born and raised in Erinsville, Ontario, Mary-Anne is living a diverse life and strives to express diversity in her work.
Mary-Anne began her studies in the Fine Arts program at the University of Guelph and graduated with a degree in Landscape Architecture.
After years of work in the electronics and aerospace industries, striving for personal challenges, Murphy decided in 2006 to devote herself full time to the pursuit of her art. Self-taught, Mary-Anne is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, Society of Canadian Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists, Portrait Society of Canada, and the International Guild of Realism.
Now residing in Woodstock, Mary-Anne’s primary focus is capturing the details of everyday life as she explores the world through an infinite variety of subject matter. She uses charcoal and graphite as a medium to create her highly representational drawings.
Mary-Anne has had great success exhibiting in solo, group and juried shows throughout Canada and Internationally. Her drawings are widely sought after and collected.
